Elise is starting to become a picky eater. Well, I don't know if "picky" is the right word because she hasn't stopped eating any food permanently. What she'll do is taste everything she's being offered and then decide on the one thing that she likes best and eat only that. Last night it was beets. She would only eat beets. Tonight she only wanted her juice.
Elise has figured out that she can easily spit food right out of her mouth and there is no need to swallow anything that she doesn't want to swallow. Tofu? Spit it out. Bread? Spit it out. Green beans? Spit it out. Sometimes I think she spits food out just because she CAN-- she'll eat several bites, spit a few out, then eat several more bites. It's a game. Or she's testing limits. Or exploring her own body. I don't know.
Whatever it is, she's eating noticibly less food lately. She's making up for it in breast milk, but I wish she'd eat more solid food instead. I love breast feeding her, but my body was getting used to making less and less milk, and now she wants to feed all the time again.
I guess she's gearing up for toddlerhood. Temper tantrums and picky eating, here we come. Yikes!
Andy likes to stuff his mouth full of finger food, then blow a raspberry and spit it all out. It's amazing how much food can fit in that little mouth!
ReplyDeleteHe has days where he eats like a champ and days where he doesn't want anything but breast milk either. He also won't drink milk out of a bottle or sippy cup or regular cup anymore. He only wants it straight from the source- we'll have to change this so I can get back to work.
