Baby Breakfast

One thing I can count on the kids for is that they'll eat a good breakfast. They all three like most breakfast foods. Henry and Elise don't care for eggs, but I can trick Elise into eating them if I add enough cheese.

Pancakes, waffles, Cheerios, corn flakes, toast and jelly, cheese toast, cheese grits, yogurt, bananas, applesauce, blueberries, english muffins, oatmeal, biscuits, potatoes, milk, juice... Henry, Georgia, and Elise will eat all of that stuff. Georgia hasn't yet figured out that she can refuse food, so she'll eat anything you give her no matter what. But Henry and Elise can be picky. I don't know if they just really like breakfast food or if they're always too hungry in the morning to make a fuss, but their first meal of the day is usually pretty big.

Maybe I should try to be more adventurous-- quiche, breakfast burritos, baked beans, granola-- and see if they're still willing to eat what I serve.

  1. Try almond butter on bananas, yogurt with crushed walnuts and bananas, or french toast

  2. i'd been thinking about french toast, too! i made Elise some this morning and she ate it. suspiciously. she kept pulling the pieces apart to examine them. but she ate it.

i also gave her some quiche yesterday with lunch. she was eating it just fine, then she suddenly decided that she didn't like it anymore. oh well. usually if i keep offering her a food, eventually she'll warm up to it.

  3. Mmm. Quiche is a good idea. I have no idea how to make it though. Do you have a recipe? I bet Andy would like it because he enjoys eggs and veggies and cheese and such.

  4. one of the grocery stores we go to sells the quiche we buy and it's super yummy. spinach and artichoke. i dont know how to make it, either. :(

honestly, with little three kids in the house i do a lot more "heating" than cooking. i miss cooking. i usually cook a bigger breakfast sunday mornings, and maybe one dinner a week will require some real planning. but other than that, i've become very resourceful in figuring out how to make tasty and unique meals fairly quickly.
