Kiddie Weekends

On weekends where we don't have anything big planned, Husband and I have a list of places that we like to take the kids for an hour or two. One of the keys to having small children-- especially lots of small children-- is keeping them busy.

I don't know if it's because they're still really young, but the kids enjoy trips to the grocery store. There are lots of different sights and sounds. Strange new people to shout hi to. Unfamiliar things to talk about. They all love smelling the produce and the flowers. And they're still unaware of the lure that sugary cereals or freshly baked cookies has on most people, so there's no whining or pleading for junk food.

We can get our shopping done for the week and keep the kids entertained at the same time. Very cool.

  1. Wow! Andy hates grocery shopping. He gets super annoyed at being strapped into the cart. I can occupy him for a bit by handing him things to put in the cart behind him. So I do a super quick dash (I can spend $100 in 15 minutes, no problem) through the aisles a couple times each week, then load up about 4 reusable shopping bags worth of food and race back to the car.
